The Safe & Sound Protocol may benefit people who experience:
Chronic anxiety, hypervigilance, or trauma-related activity
Auditory sensitivity, sound intolerance, or misophonia symptoms
Social engagement difficulties or emotional regulation challenges
Constantly being stuck in fight or flight
SSP is grounded in Polyvagal Theory, founded by Dr. Stephen Porges, which provides a neurobiological model for how cues of safety support social engagement and downregulate defensive states.
This listening protocol can be used by children through adults. It is customized for each person's tolerance and goals. SSP delivers filtered music that emphasizes the voice-like frequencies our nervous system uses as safety signals. Listening to these sounds in a structured series of sessions can help the nervous system shift into a calmer, more socially engaged mode. That shift often makes therapy, relationships, and even daily functioning easier.
There is a $400 access fee to use the Safe & Sound Protocol, and it can either be completed in your therapy sessions or accessed remotely for a self-paced experience.
